Signing in is the Google account already on your phone, through Google's own account sheet: one tap, no password, no form. We never see your Google password. Yes, there are ads, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. There are capped interstitials between screens, and an optional rewarded ad you choose to watch for a bonus.
